Apart from word-of-mouth, the preferred marketing medium during Weihenstephan’s early days appears to have been parchment. Hardly surprising since the brewery has been around since the first century of the last millennium.
Now, the business has well and truly arrived in the first century of this millennium – thanks, partly, to us. As Weihenstephan’s leading advertising agency since 2009, we advise the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan on all aspects of digital marketing. Among other assignments, this has involved conceptualising and implementing the brewery’s official website while developing online promotions and games alongside targeted social media marketing initiatives.
Our official branding platform for Weihenstephan is a sophisticated Flash site incorporating an online shop. Our aim was to give the world's oldest brewery (est. 1040) a fresh new presence while reaching a worldwide fan base. With this in mind, the official website comes in seven languages, including Russian and Chinese.
Our earliest site evaluations established that more than half the site‘s visitors are from overseas, especially from Australia and the USA, where Weihenstephaner beers have achieved cult status. Hardly surprising, given that the brand is older than both nations. The newest development is a mobile version of the website and a web presence for smartphones and tablets.
